Dermatology Consultants Midwest, P.A. has 3 dermatologists on staff: Rebecca L. Chain, M.D. , David M. O’Connell, M.D. and Braden R. Rance, M.D. Combined, our physicians have over 40 years of practice experience. Along with our dedicated office staff, we strive to provide caring, effective treatment based on the most up-to-date knowledge.

Emilie Badje, M.D

Dr. Badje grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas for her undergraduate studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She returned to Iowa to attend medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where she was a member and officer of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. Dr. Badje then completed a medical internship at Presence Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Finally, she completed her dermatology residency at the University of Michigan where she served as the Chief Resident. During her time at Michigan she received the Resident Peer Award for Humanism and Professionalism and devoted time to the Hope Clinic which offers free skin cancer screenings. She has a specific interest in skin cancer and cutaneous lymphomas and likes to spend her free time traveling, cooking, and playing music. Dr. Badje will begin seeing patients in August 2019. Rebecca L. Chain, M.D., FAAD

Rebecca L. Chain, M.D. is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was board certified in 2013. Her professional memberships include The American Academy of Dermatology, Alpha Omega Alpha, and the Kansas City Dermatological Society. 




David M. O'Connell, M.D., FAAD

Dr. O’Connell grew up in the Kansas City area in the town of Roeland Park, KS. He graduated from Baker University in 1978 with a BS in biology and received his medical degree from the University of Kansas in 1982.

He completed a residency in Family Practice At Baptist Hospital in KC, MO in 1985 and became board certified that year. After practicing in general practice for 3 years, he completed a Fellowship in Dermatological Clinical Investigations at Harvard in 1989. He continued his Dermatology training at the University of Texas San Antonio, completing his residency in 1992.

Along with being Chief Resident of his program in 1991-1992, Dr. O’Connell has also served as President of the Kansas City Dermatology Society. He has maintained his board certification through continuing medical education, completing the American Board of Dermatology recertification exam in 2002 and again in 2012. He is an active member in the American Academy of Dermatology and a  Fellow of the American Board of Dermatology.


Braden R. Rance, M.D., FAAD

Braden R. Rance, M.D. is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 1998 where he was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship and dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium and became board certified in 2002. After serving as a dermatologist in the U.S. Army for four years, he joined Dermatology Consultants Midwest in 2006. He served as an officer in the Kansas City Dermatological Society from 2010-2012, and is still an active member of the society.
